What is Punch Excision?
Punch excision physically removes ice pick and deep boxcar scars by cutting around scar with circular tool, removing damaged tissue to fat layer, and closing with sutures. Converts indented scars to flat linear scars.
Local anesthetic injected, circular punch tool (1.5-3.5mm) cuts around scar, damaged tissue removed to subcutaneous fat, wound closed with fine sutures. Takes 10-60 minutes depending on number of scars.
