My Honest Experience After a Very Complicated Hand Injury – A Big Thank You to Dr. Vinay Jacob and His Team

I’m writing this with respect for Dr. Vinay Jacob Sir and his team who saved my right hand and gave me back a full life.

Few months ago, while on duty, I met with a serious accident. It was a work-related injury and I lost my right index finger in that moment. I was rushed to the Bombay Hospital in great pain, fear, and with no hope in my heart.

As a police constable, we are trained to handle many tough situations, but this injury broke me from inside. I truly thought my life and career were finished.

When I first saw my hand with all the bandages, swelling, and dressing, I was shocked. I was depressed and scared. I kept thinking – will I ever be able to use my hand again? Will I be able to work? Support my family? I had completely lost confidence.

But everything changed the moment Dr. Vinay Jacob took charge of my case. I was told he is a top plastic and reconstructive and hand surgeon, and now I truly believe he is not only a great doctor but also a man with a golden heart.

He performed a very long and complex surgery to save my finger and hand. He used advanced methods which I had never even heard of.

Because of his skill and experience, he managed to save the length and function of my hand. Even though the finger was badly injured, he did a miracle and brought it back to life.

Throughout this entire journey – from the first day at the hospital till today, which is now nearly 4 months after surgery – Dr. Jacob always spoke to me kindly, gave me confidence, explained everything in detail, and never gave up on me. He also worked closely with the physiotherapists and other doctors to make sure every step of my healing went properly.

Today, I am using my hand again. I can do all my basic tasks, and even though I had lost all hope, I now feel strong again. My heart is full. I feel like living again.

I want to tell every person who may suffer from such an injury – please do not panic. Trust your doctor, especially if you are under Dr. Jacob’s care.

These reconstructive surgeries are not simple like a small wound operation. They take time, patience, and careful planning. But if you follow the doctor’s instructions and do your exercises, your life can become normal again.

I also want to say a big thank you to his wonderful team – especially Mr. Abhishek and Mr. Ganesh in the clinic office. They never let me feel like a patient.

Every time I came for my dressing, follow-up, or any report, they treated me with so much care, respect, and comfort. They arranged everything on time and always made sure I was not waiting too long or in trouble.

Today I can proudly say that I am standing strong, back with my family and my team at work, because of the excellent work done by Dr. Vinay Jacob and his clinic.

My 80 plus year old mother's ear lobe piercing had enlarged to a great extent , both ears. It had almost cut through. She was unable to wear her regular expensive earrings which she loved as it used to kind off dangle and she also had the fear of it falling off .

We therefore visited our family doctor and a few other small clinics to get it fixed.However we were not convinced with the solutions they offered and we were not sure of how the outcome would be.We kept procrastinating for a while until one of her expensive earrings fell off.

We were then referred to Dr. Vinay Jacob.We fixed an appointment with him and met up. Dr. Jacob took his time and patiently explained to us how he would surgically close the rather large hole in the ear lobes.

We were convinced and on the same day Dr. Jacob performed the surgery on both ears and to our surprise, he even put the earrings back on the ears immediately after the surgery and also encouraged my mother not to take them off even as the healing takes place. My mother was elated. We and especially my mother was very happy with the whole process. Around a month or so after her ears had healed we visited the doctor again to thank him for the wonderful job that he had done as a plastic surgeon. His experience and skills were commendable.

Dr. Jacob is an excellent doctor .Not only is well spoken he also makes his patient comfortable and speaks and listens to them patiently.

I never spoke to anyone about it until recently, when I finally opened up to my dad.
